Remix Runway Show :: FRIDAY 6/27
Interchange is stepping it up for its second year bringing a mind-trip of a variety show to the Emerson ballroom for one night only, Friday June 27th. Dubbed the Remix Runway Show, the title certainly fits: take everything you know about runways and spin it, scratch it, overlap it, remix it, and you get fashion week meets South Beach meets Native American design meets Interchange. DJ Bones is on stage on all night to keep the beats rolling and the energy high as the world-class performers hit the runway.
Six fashion designers will show off their best and finest lines including contemporary Western, Junk to Funk, Latex and Lace, and more. Edison Ritchie, the designer of Revolution Couture, is excited to bring his Native American-influenced line to Montana. With only a month since his first showing, Ritchie’s line has gained international attention and even landed him a spot in the new design film, Emerging, whose crew will follow Ritchie around Interchange in Bozeman. Ritchie says, “I am Native, Lakota, and I just wanted to bring my heritage and a little bit of activism to light.” But he says, his line is not only inspired by and designed for Native Americans – “It’s designed to support all walks of life in the world.” Influenced by his activist grandparents, Ritchie says that he wants to help those, especially the indigenous, who may not have a voice. He says that activism “naturally evolved into my design and manifested itself into clothing.” With organic, natural materials and a “skater meets traditional Native” design, Revolution Couture is sure to make a statement on the Remix Runway.
In between runway models, break dancers, electronic tap dancers, and fire spinners, make way for the larger-than-life Montana drag queen, Electra Sexton. Originally from Denver where she danced professionally with R. Kelly Productions, Electra has performed all over the country and held the nationally recognized title of Miss Gay Montana for two years. Bringing a crew of her own professional performers, Electra has prepared a spectacular show of talent, glamour, and excitement. She says the Remix Runway Show is special because it’s a chance “to celebrate diversity, regardless of your background. One night, one place to get everyone together to have a really good time.” General admission and VIP tickets are available at www.iaminterchange.com.
